Envy, anger and sorrow constitute a distortion of the powers of the soul and an abuse of the corresponding talents.
God does not grant weaknesses. He grants powers. But when we do not exercise these powers for what is good, then the devil exploits them and they become passions. However if we exercise these powers against evil, they will help us in the spiritual struggle.
Anger indicates that the soul possesses manliness which helps in the spiritual life. One who is not hot-tempered and lacks manliness won’t be able to easily put his ego into place. Anger, pure anger, is that power of the soul. If a person who is meek (gentle, submissive) by nature is helped once by his character in his spiritual progress, the irascible (easily angered) person is helped twice as much by the power of his character, as long as he directs this power of anger against the passions and the evil one.
BE CAREFUL because anger includes justification (to justify; prove to be just, right, or valid), pride, impatience and impudence (offensively bold behavior).
